Re: [epilepsy] Re: Regular Lamictal vs genetic Lamictal

hi Since you all are talking about the "generic" lamictal I thought I would put my 2 cents in  I am on both Generic lamictal& Keppra  the mgs   meds are both white I liked it when I wasn't on the generics cuz I could tell the pills apart Lamictal was  blue  (200)mgs.                        and the Lamictal was med pink "500mgs"  now they r both white and I get them mixed up sometimes I know the different shapes and all   and the generic names are different . and yes I keep them in different bottles. I'm wondering if I sould ask my Neuro if the companies make different colors so that I can tell them apart ?  any info would great .~~~Annette~~~

Tammy,

You were saying the colors of Lamictal were blue? And the 50's are white, 100's pink. I take 150mg tablets of Lamictal and they are white both regular and generic. Does Megan take any 150mg? just curious,

Jason, I think the color of the generic lamictal matches the brand
name based on dosage. For example, Megan used to take 200 mg Lamictal
tablets, which were blue and shield-shaped. The generic lamictal 200
mg tablets were also blue, but were diamond shaped. Both the regular
and generic were scored for splitting. When she had to add 50 mg to
her 800mg a day dosage, the 50 mg pill was white, and I think it's
the 100mg pills that are pink, right? The generic color matching may
only be done by one of the companies that makes the generics,
although I think it's kind of a good idea.

Take care,
Tammy
