Hi Tim,
I had Medic Alert before you can sign into your account and choose who you want them to contact first, as well as updating your meds, doctors etc. I had to cancel mine cause I kept having to change insurance companies, then doctors and meds. Now that I lost my medical insurance a 2nd time this year I would have to change it again so I have yet to renew it.

I aIway wear two MedicAlert's, neck + l. wrist. They almost never, once in
18 years contacted Medic Alert, they don't pay attention to anything other
than getting to a hospital quickly.

Tim,
Have you ever gone to your police department and told them what you want do
ne
when you have a sz? I don't know if that would help but you at least hav
e a one
to one contact with them and you have told them-- to at least look at your
medical
alert but more important that you get your meds.
What that tells me is that they are not educated about EP and it sounds lik
e they
need to be.
It sounds like you move around quite a bit. I'd go to each and every pol
ice department
where ever you land and tell them. Being taken to the hospital when you
don't need to
be or not given you meds to me is just plain ignorance. But you may have
to educate them.
And who better than you who has had some bad experiences. Don't go angry
but with
the attitude to help them and you.
Millie

one does in a case like this?

Nancy, Donna and Everyone else,
In days when I drove, I had totaled all (a few) of my cars. All these cra
shes didn't involve any other cars, just me into wall or a tree. Police alw
ays listed them as through the accident was due to my falling asleep. If
a seizure occurs while walking in public or standing at bus stop. And a
police man is nearby, they first check to find the seizures cause. First
they decide that it isn't due to alcohol because they don't smell any sign
s of its use, then they want to decide its due to drug abuse. Then, if you
have medicine in your pocket that you were to use at the next dose. And the
y find it, you would arrested for possession of drugs. Then when in jail an
d the time of your next dose is passing, and you ask water to take your med
icine with. The police would respond, The drug you had are in police eviden
ce, and you can't touch it. They were then causing your therapeutic level o
f medicine in your blood to lower, it drops like a stock market (straight
down) but takes months or years to build back up to therapeutic level. ADA
is being avoided by the cops because you don't have any medicine to drink water with. They then tell you that there is no doctor on the premise and th
at you need to go to a hospital to see one. But how can you go when you are
locked up?
Good luck, better than mine,
Tim Baldwin

Linda, I think one of the reasons they do not believe me is because I do
not fall down as I only have the partical ones at this point. They thin
k all seizures are falling down. Nancy

Linda, I know what you mean about people as I had a friend and was very
close until I came back down with my seizures. She does'nt know anything
about partical seizures just grand mal.. She doesn't believe that I hav
e them, just like my job when I got fired. A lot of my friends think tha
t I am faking. I said how can I be faking if the dr. has ran all kinds o
f test and saied that I have them. They do not understand what they are.
