[epilepsy] Re: New/Scared/Post-SZ

Wow ladies. Thank you thank you thank you for answering my questions
and putting my fears to rest. I was at work on Monday Feb 25th at
about 8:30 PM (I'm a 2nd shifter in a factory) when I had a grand mal.
I did not come around until about 30 minutes afterwards.
I don't know about anyone else but this just absolutely scares the
dickens out of me to regain conscienceness(sp) and have a room full of
strangers standing over the gurney calling my name. I felt the aura
coming on but chose to ignore it(very dumb). The rest of the week I've
felt jittery and nerved up. I was allowed to have Tuesday off from
work, so I got to get some rest. After reading your posts I feel like
these feelings are normal. Whew what a relief. It's nice to know that
this isn't just my problem. I don't mean for that to sound the way
that it came out, but I just couldn't put it any other way.
One more thing I want to ask. Do you ever feel like just bursting into
tears even up to a few days afterwards for no apparent reason? I'm
sorry to ramble on. Thanks so much Lana:)

[epilepsy] Re: Congential brain defect

Wendy, I seem to remember something in a college class about how
cutting the corpus collosum cured seizures for some with epilepsy. I
assume that was some very rudimentary early surgical attempt to cure
epilepsy, but have you ever heard that?

Take care,
Tammy

Re:Re: [epilepsy] Congential brain defect

Wendy, it is not tore, it is half the width it should be. I was diagnosed three years ago, but going by medical records the earliest documented one was at 8, 24 years ago. My records are not available prior to that and my mom does not remember.

Melisssa,

There are a lot of syndromes that involve the corpus collosum and
epilepsy and a lot of people that don't have epilepsy that are
walking around with no corpus colossum, smaller than normal or even
pieces missing. My daughter Julia 18 months has Aicardi Syndrome they
diagnose it by agenisus of the corpus collossum, lacunae of the eye
and infantile spasms. Fortunately we got rid of the infantile spasms
but they were replaced with a multifocal seizure disorder and she
still has 4 - 6 seizures a day (we're down from 10). There is a
connection between the corpus collosum and epilepsy but, for this to
be ture you would have had seizures as an infant / toddler. How old
were you when your seizures started?

Hello everyone, here's some feedback on how my efforts are coming
along. Today it's Day 25 for me and above all I feel great. No
salivating giving ins, no snacking, no nothing. I'd have to agree it
IS a lifestyle and a mighty one. I am eating anything I want and
sometimes I might eat even if I am full out of fear I will feel hungry
if I don't.(it has happened and it is winter for crissake). However;
except some water shedding in week one, nada. I was 202 when I started
and am currently 198. And heck I am not having any second helpings and
above all I touch no sugar whatsoever. It could be many factors but I
am keeping it up till I reach my goal. Would have been nicer though to
have had some fat torching encouragement. ..
