RE: In Reply To: [epilepsy] Re: Why I have Epilepsy?

"wait - the he/she doesn't have all the blame, but yeah' the he/she's Doctor: that wants him' he/she to make the trip"
wait:
okay: the blind fly, but many persons with illnesses have medical advise bracelets on their wrist"
okay - a airlines won't and if a health-factor should happen - but he/she person has no fault of natural causes?
do statisticts really say: a person with epilepsy shouldn't fly?
if the he/she cliend knows: he ain't gonna cause the airlines of an injury?
because of epilepsy"
but haven't an I think their has: a woman had a baby while flying in a plane?
even if a doctor is not on that flight"
1 in a million"
but that is flying.
what god controls is unexplainable.
just make sure the piolot or co-piolot is looking at the control pad, and no ducks fly into the engins?
but what are the very pretty stewardess trained for?
a company shouldn't restrict a or person with a health condition: to fly, thou that is the doctor that gives the clean-bill of health - to do so.
but if he thinks it's okay, the airlines has no reason to take your constitution fights away from you, but you can travel with a family companion.
if you are totally alone' why do we really have"
guide medical dogs?
even for the blind, epilepsy, and or heart person?
are there 2 sides to the story?

find the easiest solution"

Hi

I am surprised he/she is even allowed to travel, the airlines are very strict with that kind of thing.

Someone I know who lives on the other side of the world and a flight is around 24 hours, more with an essential stopover. It is essential that medication times be gradually changed to suit a 12 or so hour time difference before travelling. Travel insurance is expensive and this person tends mainly to have nocturnal seizures, even then travelling stress seems to halt those. It would be near impossible (or impossibly expensive) were it not for these facts.

[Healthy_Recipes_For_Diabetic_Friends] Cafe Sevillas Albondigas Meatballs - 13g Carbs, 2g Fiber, 2g Sugar

Cafe Sevillas Albondigas Meatballs - 13g Carbs, 2g Fiber, 2g Sugar

From: http://recipes.latimes.com - By Noelle Carter - Note: Adapted from Cafe Sevilla in Riverside

Note: To roast garlic, cut off the pointy top of a head of garlic to expose the tips of the cloves. Place the garlic on a small sheet of foil, cut end facing up. Drizzle a little olive oil over the cut end of the garlic head, and sprinkle a pinch each of salt and pepper. Wrap the garlic head in the foil and roast in the oven at 325 degrees until the cloves have softened, about an hour.
Total time: 50 min
Serves: 10 to 12

2 Tbsp olive oil
2 cups minced onion, from about 1 large onion
4 oz roasted garlic, pureed (about 1/3 cup), see Note
About 1/2 cup (3/4 oz) chopped fresh basil leaves
About 1/2 cup (3/4 oz) chopped fresh cilantro
1 Tbsp dried oregano
1 Tbsp Spanish paprika
1 Tbsp kosher salt
1 Tbsp freshly ground black pepper
2 eggs
1 cup plain bread crumbs
1 lb ground pork
1 lb ground beef
1 cup grated Manchego OR Parmesan cheese
Chopped parsley, for serving

1. In a saute pan heated over medium heat, combine the olive oil and onions, cooking the onions until they soften and become translucent, 6 to 8 minutes. Remove from heat and place the onions in a large mixing bowl.

2. To the bowl, add the roasted garlic, basil, cilantro, oregano, paprika, salt and pepper, stirring to combine. Set the mixture aside until the onion has cooled to room temperature.

3. To the cooled onion mixture, stir in the eggs and bread crumbs, then the ground pork, beef and cheese, mixing with your hands until uniform and fully combined.

4. Divide the mixture into 36 meatballs, each about one-fourth cup. The meatballs may be covered and refrigerated at this point up to 3 days before cooking.

5. To cook the meatballs, heat the oven to 375 degrees. Spread the meatballs out onto foil- or parchment-lined baking sheets, spacing them an inch or so apart for even cooking.

6. Cook the meatballs until firm and golden and a thermometer inserted reaches 165 degrees, 15 to 20 minutes. Rotate the baking sheets halfway through cooking for even heating and coloring. Serve garnished with parsley.

RE: In Reply To: [epilepsy] Re: Why I have Epilepsy?

I understand that very-clearly an honestly.
it is fact: everywhere and every persons coverage of plan, by insurance - can have tiny bits of info: that don't become aware-of untill a medical need is urgent"
thou: normally the professional Dr. office has a worker that makes and talks the claims with the insurance co. - and will report to the client if and any" using this term as a discription: (Red Tape).
once the matter has been cleared-up from the medical-office to the insure' of what the need can be for and about, many and all Co.'s have special back-up evergency funds - ones plan qualifys for.
as and for especially it is the Dr. that his office makes the request to and for he/she provider insurance Co.
"yeah-yes I know every country and or state has different insurers"
but when it comes to saving someones life: you never see a Dr. or Nerse just standing by doing nothing"
that is why' if a cliend makes the request: at the insurance co. it never gets passed the red-tape: Help is a word that has an" !
but it is silly-that in orlando what this client needs, either if the cliend can't go for the treatment, if it is better their"
someone from their or the medicine can be; sent to the clients area"
it's a medical need?

like medical marijuana, in the united states: more and only - Colorado has practices"
but it might-not be-allowed in other states"
so a client would have to fly their, but that is treatment...
"what is the actual fact? - of something better: up that ain't good, where the client lives?"

as for medical-plans, if there is something his/or/she doesn't cover: at sometime that is noticed.
the client can' change medical-plans at every year: an last 5an1/2 months of the year period"
it's so true" even backed-by the signature of the president on the claim*
have a friend: look-up medical claim coverages - an even his/she's neighbour can have a good company while you the person in need might have not known of that fact.
but it has been all over TV, and Newspapers?
a medical office never shuts the door on a client...-----Original Message-----

Hi Nelson

When we fly or go on holiday we have to have travel
insurance, because of our epilepsy and in my case
encephalitis and other disabilities, it is very hard to find
companies that will give us the insurance, in some cases it
can be very expensive.

Hi, all. I was diagnosed with epilepsy when I was 4 years
old. I've had it for 39 years now (so you can guess how old
I am). Nobody knows how it started. Mom has a theory that
it was because she was in labor for 27 hours with me. I
don't know if that was the case, though. Even if it was,
why would it take so long to manifest itself? Anyway, my
seizures are under control with medication. I haven't had
one in almost a year. I've also figured out one of my
triggers: dehydration. I was mowing the ditch in my front
yard a few years ago, and I started seeing spots in front of
my eyes. So I sat down in the ditch and had a seizure.
That, along with a couple of times during a martial arts
class, helped me figure it out. Now I'm careful to make
sure I have enough water and take breaks if I'm doing a lot
of work.

[epilepsy] Re: Transportation Problem

That's really difficult for you. I can't imagine what needing to travel such large distances is like as I live in a small country (UK). My hospital is in central London and I live on the very edge of the greater London area. It is probably only about 15 miles, so buses and trains get me there. But it still takes a long time even that short distance. But when I needed to spend a week having video EEG telemetry about 10 years ago, I had to get a mini-cab which at that time got paid for me. It was necessary as I was having daily very nasty seizures. I hope you find a solution.

RE: [epilepsy] Transportation Question

that trip your doctor - wants you to make, is an sounds - well-over 400 miles.
can be nearly 8 to 10 hours of time, thou: you have to find a near-by hotel?
or are checked-in to the medical place or hospital?
still: check with you're insurance - they can find you transportation.

I know it's not the best and most direct method, but have you checked out the bus. I have used Megabus to make in state trips in Texas, I believe that they have routes in Florida. Sometimes it's not the most direct route, and takes some extra time, but it might get you there. How long are they expecting the tests to take? Would an overnight stay or two be possible.

Hope this helps,

Robert McMahan

Subject: [epilepsy] Transportation Question

Hi.. I was wondering if anyone here has had the problem which I am have right now.

I have been having seizures for years, and am on Disability for the past 2 years.

My neurologist wants to send me from Orlando to Gainesville for further testing (within the next few days).

Obviously, I no longer have a license, car or any other method of transportation to get there. Even Amtrak has no routes that would help.

Has anyone here been in this situation before? And if so, what was the solution?

Thanks,

Vinnie
