Gina,
I was on topamax secondary to trileptal along with lyrica for quite
awhile. I did get a huge increase in coverage when I went on topamax.
There are some side effects to be aware of, the first is mood swings,
though if he is ok on Keppra I would guess this would not bother him in
that regard either. Second is the dizziness. I will took dizziness
over multiple complex partials a day. The dizziness is something that
decreases over time, as well as the other annoying side effects. One of
the weirdest is soda tastes flat. He could also experience tingling in
his hands and feet, but this goes away for most people.
I am a bad person to compare to as I have severe side effects to
eveything I get put on. Topamax was much better then keppra or lamictal
for me. I am now off of topamax because I am now over 2 years post
right temporal lobectomy so we decided 3 meds was now overkill. So far
no increase in seizures being off of it.
