Thank you for posting this. Not only do I really admire you but you've helped me more than you know. I used to always be in the 170 lbs range and always dieting and I exercised a lot. 4 - 5 years ago I was struck down with M.E. and am now bedbound a lot of the time. My weight went up to 190+ and I found Fast5. Voila - my weight went down, lower than it had been most of my adult life and I was happy.
Then about 2 years ago I took severe gastric problems (BTW these had nothing to do with being on Fast5) and spent 18 months being rushed into ER, given morphine for the excruciating pain and then allowed home when all tests came up negative and believe me I had every test known to man :-). I came off Fast5 then simply because there was so little I could eat and could only manage a few mouthfuls at a time. My weight had dropped to 90 lbs and I looked and felt horrendous.
Then in June they discovered the problem was the bile duct was completely blocked. They removed that, slit the sphinctre to stop it happening again and suddenly I could eat :-). I was no longer Fast5ing, my priority was to put on weight besides I was like a kid in a sweet shop around food :-) anyway I'm now 130lbs, not overweight but about 5 - 10lbs heavier than my clothes are comfortable with.
Your post really struck home - I've been obsessing about food, eating junk, nibbling non stop, having mood swings, bouts of nausea, bloating and loads of other minor but irritating symptoms. BTW I've been gluten free for about 12 years now and agree with everything Heather says about it. Anyway your post reminded me how good I felt on Fast5. I felt much free-er. I used food for fuel and actually enjoyed it a lot more. Also, because i have such limited energy with the M.E., it really helped not having to fix food so often. I could save what little energy I have for other things.
So I am recommitting to Fast5. I genuinely believe it's a more natural way to eat and solves so many problems. thank you for your post and let's keep in touch to see how we're doing on it.
Cheers
