From my own experience, both losing then maintaining using these methods over the last 10 years, it doesn't really matter whether you eat once or several times within your window. What matters is the total calories you consume (consistent with your overall activity level of course). In fact - and Dr Herring has confirmed this point - the only real "magic" of Fast 5 is fundamentally as a method of calorie control, in that many people find it easier to limit their overall calorie intake by restricting their eating window, rather than by trying to limit portion size throughout the day. Any other health benefits, related to the actual duration of the fast, are relatively unproven and, whether valid or not in the longer term, probably have little to do with the overall success of Fast 5 as a method for controlling body composition.

From reading the posts, it seems like most of you only eat once a day. Is that more recommended than say eating a couple of lighter meals with a snack in between as long as you get it in th 5 hour period? I am doing the Dash Diet now and there are a few things that I have to eat every day but I don't see how I'd be able to get them all in in one meal. Do you think Fast-5 works as well if you eat more than once?
