Tammy,
I was 32 when I was DX with EP. No, I never have tasted alcohol.
I had 3 daughters 2, 4, and 6 plus a husband (now ex).
I think if I had been told to NOT drink with EP I might have tried it--
but I sure didn't want a sz.
In fact I have trouble figuring out what is so great about drinking
alcohol. Considering all the accidents and the crazy things people
do during under the influence. I do not understand why people
want to drink to celebrate or I see on TV when someone has died.
I guess it is not in my culture
Millie

Hi Millie,
Even if you didn't have epilepsy, no one should drink and take phenobarbital at the same time. They are both depressants on the body (I think the CNS, specifically), and can cause unconsciousness and even death if taken together. I don't think that all anti-epileptic drugs would have that problem.
How old were you when you were diagnosed? Did you drink alcohol prior to being diagnosed? Just curious.
