I'm going to answer this on Megan's behalf, because she doesn't belong to the list, but I know what she'd say.
No way! She wants to go and do all kinds of things. Her seizures are under complete control as I write this, but even when she was having about a seizure a week, she still took roles in plays attended college, works as a beverage server at a golf course, went bowling, did karate tournaments, dances, took trips alone to upstate New York and Chicago (by plane and train),and recently made a solo trip to Hamburg Germany, and that's the short list! Her theory is that if she has a seizure in public, so be it. She's always liked hanging out at home, but she would never be satisfied with doing that all the time. I think rather than feeling that she was having control by staying home, she would feel that the epilepsy was controlling what she did, and there is just no way she would be content with that.
Back to me talking :).....
I'm glad you are still in your band. I would hope that you wouldn't let your seizures stop you from doing anything you love, as long as it doesn't put you or others in grave danger. I can understand people who have frequent seizures not wanting to venture out as much, but I think that people with seizures being afraid to have a seizure in public is part of why there is still stigma attached to this condition. As long as those with epilepsy act as if their condition is something that needs to be hidden away or a secret, the general public will not learn much of anything about the condition, and misinformation and misconceptions will continue to rule the day.
Off my personal soapbox... This is just an issue about which I am passionate.
