Thanks, everyone, for your advice and philosophies! You're all very wise :). Here's my next question...
I'm racing in a triathlon sprint (a mini-triathlon) in a couple weeks. I can do moderate exercise while fasting without a problem, and do this daily, but I've never done something this intense before.
Although it's a noncompetitive "fun run," the sprint is through water, woods, and mud, and it won't be possible for me to carry food with me in case I don't feel well. I'm trying to plan whether I need to eat before I race. Generally I feel much better when I don't eat in the mornings, but I'm a little afraid I might become faint or nauseated if I fast.
Does anyone have experience doing intense physical activity during a fast? Is it safe/healthy to burn this many calories so quickly on an empty stomach?
