Right on Adrien...the sooner a person can 'don't let my epilepsy rule my life' you rule it instead the better
off your epilepsy is. Not only have your seizures now lost their control....you can begin to now feel better
and taking control of your health whatever it may be is about all we can do in some cases. It may eventually
disappear...

Hi
I don't let my epilepsy rule my life, it would be so easy to
think I can't do something in case I have a sz, obviously
there are things I can't do but there are many more I can.
I wear a medic alert chain round my neck which tells people
that I am epileptic and this alone has given me a great deal
of confidence. I travel on trains alone, this week I am
going fishing, I have been sailing and have don't all sorts
of other activities in the past, horse riding, helicopter
rides, and much more, and I still don't let my epilepsy get
in the way. Yes it is so unpredictable but if I start
feeling bad then I just have to let it pass. I haven't had a
proper sz for twelve years but there is no telling when my
next one will occur. My epilepsy is as a result of having
encephalitis when I was six years old and that was 35 years
ago. As well as being epileptic I am blind and in a
wheelchair and I try to be as positive as possible but there
are times when I like many of you get depressed but this is
probably the brain's way of stopping us from over doing
things. I don't think my epilepsy is as severe as what some
of you have, but it is bad enough, I take 1 thousand mg of
tegretol daily and I split this 600 ml mornings and 400
night times. My mum has a form of leukaemia and her motto is
let the illness live with you, not you it, in other words
don't let it take over. It is so easy to get into a rut and
feel that you can't do any thing but life is far too short.
Well I will now get off of myh soap box and sit quietly and
enjoy reading your messages and enjoy my birthday and yes it
is today and thank you all for such a good list.
Regards
Adrien
