[epilepsy] Re: What happens when schools know ?

Craig, you are in my generation, and schools a very different now.
Yes, especially in middle school, kids can be cruel at times. But the
teachers and the way things are run are very different now. Megan's
teachers and principals all knew she had epilepsy, and she went out
for sports all through middle school and was involved with every and
any activity that she wanted to do. She was not labeled in any way in
terms of her mental abilities and took advanced math and AP classes,
too. She had seizures in school a few times, once in the lunch room
at high school. It never seemed to cost her a single friend. In fact,
her friends were concerned with her being ok and rallied around her
when this would happen. People who don't act as friends should are
not worth the time of day.

I am sorry that this was not your experience. People have fought
these battles in the intervening years though, so your experience
will hopefully just be a thing of the past.

Take care,
Tammy
