I think it depends on the severity of the sz and any injuries. I haven't gone ot the hosp for any of mine in about a dozen years. Those trips were because I had several different types of szs in a short time (LONG simple partial, GM, Jacksonian), and I once had two GMs about 4 hours apart. I don't bother with the hosp for simple partials or even GMs anymore, because I "know the drill." It's been over 3 years since I last had a GM, and I just started Keppra two weeks ago for my SPs, so I hope to never have to go again. :) We'll see...
LIZARD (lifelong hydrocephalus, epilepsy; decent control of both--and getting better! :) )

Thank-you all for your responses regarding Zack. Heres my next question.... When do you think it is nessary to go to the hospital?
The last time we took Zack before his diagnoses the ER doctor suggested his confusion and diorientation was due to stress. This was after a 3 1/2 hour wait. I was angry to say the least. But I am willing to take him if nessary. What do you think??
