When I was on a medication and the generic form made me very ill + didn't help my condition, but rather worsened it. My Dr spoke/wrote to insurance & from then on I got the original medicine permanently. ~jenandshadow~

They have my 16 yr old daughter on Topiramate for seizures and migraines.
They are still adjusting her dose as she just started on it at 100 mg am and
125 mg PM. She is still having debilitating migraines and we have actually
taken her now to a Chiropractor for help. The seizures she is having are
also changing to a diff kind.
GRRRR this is so dang hard. Have mentioned to her Dr that she was well
controlled with diff seizures when younger on Dilantin.
It is hard having a teenager with multiple Neurological difficulties.

Hi Cathie,
Topamax is quite commonly used in lower doses as a headache
preventative for those with migraine. It works quite well. I was on
it myself for about a year or two. It can make you somewhat foggy
mentally, which is why I went off of it. I have enough problems with
my memory already! Anyhow, quite a number of AEDs have off-label
uses, so the fact that something can prevent seizures in larger doses
shouldn't scare you off.
