Re: [epilepsy] Phenobarbital

Susan, I take Keppera XR, and Zonagran  and I have complex partial seizures but I am not completely free of seizures. I have had seizures for 20 yrs. They were worse at first but now they are just like-if I am standing up, I will fall like a drunk and be completely unconscious for a while and not know anything about it.  My husband is usually there and he helps me. I am 62 yrs. old and mine are from stress or hormones and no other explanation, and they can come on anytime, with an aura but with little notice and it happens. I've fallen many times and got bruised up and hurt and stoved up and had stitches in my chin once. But I have never broke my false teeth or my glasses yet. I quit driving quite a few years ago willingly. My memory is terrible and depression sometimes overwhelms me. And sometimes how people treat me is terrible after they find out. How are your seizures and are they controlled? I take Citalopram Generic for Celexa. I live in New Lexington,Ohio at an assisted living home with my husband. I have 2 kids, a girl 42, a boy, 35. I have 3 granddaughters 20,18 and 13 from my first marriage. My son is married also. Tell me about u. Linda Hammond    lindahammond91@yahoo.com

Hi......I was actually on Klonopin for severe depression  before i was diagnosed with EP 3 yrs ago.  Klonopin made me very very tired and very out of it.  Plus i was gaining weight from not being able to "live" just sleeping.

I am currently on Triepl, Lamical, and I am still having seizures once per month.  Recently, I had a seizure while driving and that happened after being seizure free for OVER A YEAR!  Has anyone been in remission and if so....what medications are working for complex partial seizures.  Thanks!

Subject: [epilepsy] Phenobarbital

Is anyone here taking phenobarbital? Does anyone know why certain strengths are still available like 16.32 mg and other strengths are not available like 15 mg? What, if anything, did your doctor suggest as a better alternative med? I read that PB has "long term side effects" but cannot really find any listed. How about Klonopin?

Thanks in advance,
SJ
