TY so much for responding - I feel lost and am way depressed!  I've had EP for three years and was seizure free for over a year.  In August, I had a seizure while driving and crashed into a guard rail -thank God no one was hurt but me! LOL....I passed out for like 20 minutes or more.  Now i'm afraid to drive EVER!  Yes in NJ  it is 6 months but I may wait a year or two to apply for my license.  My doctor wants me on 500 or more Lamictal - now i'm on 200 and 250, once in am, second in PM.  However, at the end of 5 weeks, he wants me on 600. I'm getting weened off the Trileptol as when i was on high dosages of both....I was dizzy, confused  and had blurry vision.  He wants to put me on Topamax or Zonegrin if Lamictal doesn't work.  I have complex partial seizures and want the best combo for me.  My sister's friend is on like 400 mg lamcital and has been seizure free for 7 yrs!  Help as Im way frustrated and depressed!  TY

Isn't Vimpat fairly new?  How much Lamictal are you on as my neuro wants to move me to 500  mg after I totally stop the Trileptol.  How long have you been seizure free as in NJ U can drive after 6 months of being seizure free.

My name is Jewl I am 50years old and I am married�nd we live in Texas� I have had EP since 1996after catching a virus. I have been on many medications and combinations of. Now I take Vimpat and Lamictal. Not every drug is for everyone.

As for driving I have not driven in 17 years, I have been fortunate to live in towns that have an elderly and disabled bus service. Call your town hall and ask if they do. Mine is door to door and is five dollars round trip.

I know you will find a wealth of information and friends here.
