Re: [epilepsy] Your change from Lamictal to Keppra

Martin,
It sounds like you had the type of problem,I hope nobody has.I just told someone
about generics aren't a full copy of a brand name medicine, generics only need to
copy only the therapeutic ingredient.Thats all they do,generics aren't released
into the blood at the same rate or have a half-life that's the same as a brand
name medicine.People with epilepsy need medicine in their system at a standard
strength,to be protected from seizures all day as they were on brand
name. But,after switching to a generic only one ingredient is copied.Doctors will
know.

i was given a generic of Depekene 10 yrs. back. The pharmacist thought
since I was on Medicaid and Medicare. He decided to change my Depekene to the
generic brand himself without Doctors authorization or the insurance. So I got
sick on it and had to have emergency surgery 5 yrs. later. Always check with
the doctor first before taking any generic or brand name drug. That is my
recommendation to everyone. No drug works the same for everyone the same way.
