Sodium and/or potassium. Low electrolytes ARE a problem
for a number of people. Some of the people who had
chronic fatigue turned out to be low in sodium, so now they are
on what their doctor calls the "dill pickle diet" ... one dill pickle
a day.

Northern Europeans often carry *one* cystic fibrosis gene. One
gene doesn't give you cystic fibrosis, but it does mean you
excrete salt quickly. This is thought to have survival value when
there is cholera. I dunno (and an alternative theory is that our
ancestors lived near oceans and so just got a huge amount
of salt in their diet) ... but hey, it's a really easy experiment.
