My name is Robert, and I have had seizures since 16 months old, as the direct result of the removal of a baseball-sized, benign tumor from my left temporal lobe. They have decreased over the years both in frequency and severity, but I doubt I will ever lose them altogether. I have however, learned to control them as they occur. I focus on a single individual, all the while refusing to give up control to the seizure. Sounds weird, but it works for me.

First let me tell you that I am not here for myself I am here for my
18 month old daugher Julia. She was diagnosed with a Choroid plexus
papilloma (Brain tumor) when she was 4 months. We discovered the
tumor when Julia had her first sezirue we now know it was an infantile
spasm (associated with an abnormal brain pattern). Julia's tumor was
taken out at John's Hopkins in Baltimore MD but, she still had
seizures after surgery. We recently (actually our Christmas persent)
got rid of the infantile spasms and now have a multifocal seizure
disorder. When Julia has a seizure her movement repeats itself left
arm out, right leg up, head turns to right and eyes roll I believe
this is considered a clonic. Julia still has daily seizures because
her medication is for infantile spasms and we just started Lamictal.
My question...have any of you had seizures since you were an infant?
What are the best medications for focal seizures?
Thanks,
Wendy
