Re: [epilepsy] When to tell/Julie

When it comes to telling your teachers, make sure they know every detail and what to do and a list of phone #s
to call. Even the teacher could possibly bring it into one of the classes. It could easily be happening to
someone else and they are afraid to tell. Education for everyone is necessary.

When it comes to employment, that depends on several things. If you don't tell and become employed in a place
where there is the potential danger should a seizure happen..you could be fired. It would be to your benefit
not to get chosen rather than a number of 'just fired' on your list. On the other brighter side of the coin,
if you have a good feeling about the flexibility of your employer during the interview by all means bring it
to their attention. You may have found an employer who is for your needs and makes sure all others know so
not to put you in harms way. My employer even told me to make sure and come to her if anyone was doing
anything that caused me to feel uncomfortable. By that I mean...there was one time we had one staff, the type
that looked so busy all the time and just had to let you know everthing they were doing, the type that so busy
yet accomplished nothing really. :)) (if you know what I mean) This particular night she was running around as
if emergencies happening all over (when not) that I became dizzy, started seeing stars and very light headed
that had to sit down or was going to be her next emergency. Little did I know that the rest of the staff was
trying to get through to the boss at meetings this was happening and how annoying it was and when I told her
personally she called that staff person in and changed the whle outlook in the work situation. Your boss
though can be For you and not Against you like we sometimes like to think. Go with a positive attitude and
things will work out. Should you not get chosen for the position, it was possibly the best on your behalf
anyway. If you can, it makes you feel better in the long run to know you have done the right thing.
