There is MCT in coconut oil ... 20% of it or something like that. But you can also buy pure MCT, which is what I'm trying at the moment. I'm using the pure MCT as part of an experiment to get my metabolism working a little faster, because my body temps tend to be so darn low. Also to lower my uric acid levels ... there are some interesting theories about fats and uric acid levels, so I decided to try the MCT. It is sold in health food stores, but it's a lot cheaper in bulk:
Interesting you lose weight in the fall. Most people seem to have the opposite problem it seems.

Heather,Is MCT coconut oil? Thanks for the tips on your link. My weight seems to be holding with just a lb or two difference. Not doing F5 everyday. I'm trying to maintain until winter. Winter was a lot easier for me. Lots of herb tea.Linda
Our greatest glory consists not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.My experience was that I would lose weight sometimes, and sometimes not. There have been a few times in my life where I suddenly lost large amounts of weight for no obvious reason. And other times where, no matter how hard I tried, the weight wouldn't budge.I have a theory why as to why the difference ... based a lot on research done by Dr. Johnson on uric acid. What happened is that I started getting gout symptoms (joint pain and a "tophi" on my big toe: also my uric acid tested high on a blood test), and so went on a "low uric acid" diet like my Dad did. This mostly involves swapping a few foods. It's not an insane diet at all, but the food choices aren't obvious, at least to me.Now mind you when my Dad did this, it held his gout at bay, but he also lost a lot of weight. He wasn't trying to lose weight especially, just stop the pain, so it is interesting. Dr. Johnson's theory is that uric acid puts the body into "hibernation mode" where it wants to store fat and not burn it.So looking at the various ways of eating I've tried over the decades ... the ones associated with weight loss just happened to be low uric acid diets.A combo of Fast-5 plus "low uric acid" seems to be doing the trick nicely. My joints do not hurt, and I continue to lose weight. My metabolism is faster (at least my body temps are higher, going from 96-ish to 98-ish). It's also interesting that my siblings all have major weight issues and also major joint issues (one sister calls Advil, "Vitamin A").I have not retested my uric acid levels yet, but I have lost 30 lbs + and the big red lump on my toe is gone.I posted my diet as it exists currently here:As always, it's a work in progress! An "experiment of one" as Dr. Bert would say.So, long story short: if I were you I'd look at your current food choices and see what is different. Look beyond macro-nutrients (protein/fat/carb) and maybe look at: fish vs. beef, vinegar and other acids, how much water you drink, beer and other yeasty foods, how much sugar and fruit juice, even cocoa powder. Also look at vitamins: Vitamin C is one of those active vitamins that affects uric acid levels. Then if you note some pattern: share it with everyone else! If we all experiment, we can learn a lot.On Tue, Jul 30, 2013 at 12:40 AM, Jennifer <jensi35447@yahoo.com> wrote:
Hi I'm new to the group but have been reading it off and on for a few years.
I've been on fast5 for about three years in order to maintain after losing about 6kg (13lbs) on an HCG regimen. I never really lost on Fast5 but at least didn't gain unwanted lbs back. Now I'm losing again. Has anyone had the experience of losing after being on Fast5 a while? Or is anyone still losing after being on it for a while? I can't really imagine going back to the "normal" way of eating; whenever I do, I feel sluggish and heavy. I don't mind the weight loss, but I wonder why it is happening now after such a long time of maintaining.
Thanks for any comments.
