Nedra,
An MRI can be helpful in diagnosis, but can not by itself be a
determining factor in the diagnosis of epilepsy. Even and EEG can not
alone be the determining factor, since it is possible to get false
negatives with and EEG (this happened to me). The diagnosis of epilepsy
takes several factors including clinical evaluation, description of
episodes by the patient, EEG, MRI, and possibly the clinical observation
of the seizure. Epilepsy is a very complicated, much misunderstood
disorder.
