Debbie,
First let me say that I appreciate you sharing with us, and am sorry you
are experiencing all of this. What you are experiencing sounds almost
line for line like I was experiencing before I was diagnosed. 5 years
ago I got sick fast, actually it was 5 years ago yesterday that I left
work never to return. In a matter of months I went from a few "dizzy
spells" to incapacitated. I went undiagnosed for a year and ggot to the
point when I was having up to 12 severe complex partials a day. I ended
up having a grand mal and was finally diagnosed. I was still
uncontrolled on multiple meds, and ended up having a right temporal
lobectomy in March 2008.
What you are describing sounds like the exact description of complex
partial seizures. If you feel like your neurologists are not getting to
the bottom of it don't feel alone and know you have to advocate for
yourself. This happens, and it happened to me. I would suggest you
look for an epileptologist, a Dr that specializes in the diagnosis and
treatment of epilepsy. You can find one in your area by doing a search
on the National Association of Epilepsy Centers site. This is the link
http://www.naec-epilepsy.org/find.htm Choose your state or put in your
zip code and you will find the ones nearest you.
I am sorry you feel anyone attacked you. So you know driving is touchy
subject only because all of us have had to give it up at some point. I
did not drive for 4 years, then did for 2 months earlier this year
before deciding it was a bad idea for me due to possible seizure
activity and the side effects of the surgery. Know this, no one is
judging you, we all know the seat you are sitting in, and we understand
the difficulties not driving causes. Everyone's main concern is safety,
but know that we understand you need to make that decision for yourself
based on what you know of your condition.
Please, know that we care, we want to help you through this process, and
we are here to answer any questions. Never hesitate to ask because all
of us have been where you are and understand the myriad of questions and
feeling that come with that.
