Hello Elizabeth ~
I don't know how much longer I will be on this group, as Liz is after me again.
So, I will try to respond to your inquiries :-)
The para-transit agency will pick me up, take me to the appointment and bring me home, which is one good thing.
I have been on social security disability since 2005 for other issues, which I fear bringing up here in this group, so I will just stick with the purpose of this group.
No, when a volunteer transportation person cancelled two hours before my neurological test, my neurologist charged me for the missed appointment and won't let me make payments. It's soo frustrating.
And this is for Liz ~ I was too dizzy to drive that day, so opted to do the responsible thing and stayed out of my car !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks...I think it's that social worker thing in me!
I have to be careful...I have an hour 1/2 commute each way, on one of the busiest highways in MA. If I blackout on that, I'm done, and probably so are other drivers. I don't take that lightly. I've been looking for an apartment closer in, but when you live in the Boston area, we have some of the highest rents in the country.
1) I've never heard of needing an interview for paratransit, but I guess every town is different. What if you can't get there? Do you have a Voc. Rehab counselor? Could they have signed the form? Or help with getting you to the interview? It's amazing what funds they have.
2) Agreed...you need a new neuro. Anyone who won't listen to you not tolerating side effects is not worth it. How far along are you into SSDI? Are you on Medicare yet? Most doctors will let you go on a payment plan--will they let you do that?
