Do they know what caused the sudden onset of seizures? Not that it matters that much. About half of us don't know. I had one seizure when I was 9 then no more until I got pregnant at 17, every since I have had them. I am 44 now.
Most anticonvulsants can have many side effects, The brain fog and memory issues and being tired all the time are the worse for me. Bleeding gums is a issue more so one some meds than others. Regular dental visits help some just can't afford it. I have a fear of dentist, crazy I am in the medicail field:) Lamictal helped me go from disability back to work, Then about 4 months or longer ago. I started having more seizures. Now I am still on 600mg daily of lamictal and 2000mg of keppra so we will see. We have changed times around for meds like i take lamictal 200mg at 6a,2p,9p,keppra at 930a and 6p. It works better for me to much all together knocks me out. I have cell alarm set, house clock set, and dear hubby has his cell phone alarm calls to remind me.Seems I am taking meds around the clock, but I am still working for now, I just hate the brain fog the worse and tired and yet can't sleep.
