Re: [fast5] new to this

Well, the hunger pains do get better pretty quickly, so that is a good thing!

There do seem to be some foods that trigger hunger more than others. Sugar
does it for me ... any kind of sugar: honey, molasses, agave ... even a little bit.
Dextrose seems to be ok though. I think it's the fructose that does it ... fructose
causes uric acid levels to rise, and uric acid seems to trigger the "I'm ready to
hibernate I need to EAT" response in bears and other animals. I was experimenting with this
because I have some gout symptoms, so I started avoiding "gout foods" and it
worked like a charm. Uric acid foods include beer (but not wine), some meats, not
drinking enough water, and fructose. Anti-uric-acid foods include eggs, fish, and
maybe vinegar.

However, probably in a week your system will settle down and you won't have
to worry about any of that. But you might try adding an egg or two to your meal to
get you past the rough spots.

P.S. : that bit about "eggs are bad for cholesterol" has been tested and
disproved.

My husband isn't on Fast-5, but he eats 4 eggs every morning and has maintained
the same weight since forever. He's 57 and his bloodwork is perfect and he's in
great shape. I queried all the people I know, and so far the "egg eaters" are the skinniest
group, while the "egg haters" are the fattest.

I think this might be one thing to think about on Fast-5. In the US, eggs are ONLY
eaten for breakfast. In Spain though, they are mainly eaten for dinner. Most of the
commercial baked goods these days don't contain eggs either. So if you want to
use the appetite-suppressant qualities of eggs, you might need to get experimental
with recipes. Japanese and Korean and French foods often use eggs in recipes.

For GERD issues, lemon peel seems to do good stuff. I am not sure why, and neither
is anyone else, but limonene (the active ingredient in lemon and orange peel) somehow
gets rid of GERD in studies. What I started doing was adding a frozen lime or lemon slice
to my tea. I tend to eat the slice eventually (I'm weird: I like the taste! The peel too). And
then the reflux magically disappears. d-limonene pills are available for those that don't
like to knosh on lemon peels though. Or maybe just use lemon zest in your cooking!

Kudos on growing your own food! I'm doing that more these days too. Nothing like
homegrown vegies.

Hello and thanks for the advice, yes I think you are correct Heather, I do have a glucometer  which was reasonably priced but here in Australia they charge us $50 for the strips which you cant use once they reach exp date.....so I haven't bought any lately, however I do seem to remember it wasn't low when I felt it was and had the afore mentioned symptoms, and did test,  so I will try the vinegar.
Today is day two and although I ate very well yesterday in my window period the hunger pains are so constant I couldn't sleep so well but at least I didn't wake up choking from relux as I do when I binge.
I started at weight 83.6kg yesterday and weighed 82.2 this morning, so must be water loss. Incidentally I am 180 cm tall (5 feet 11 inches) and my bmi is around 25.6. I do want to lose 10kg-12kg which is slim but good for me,and maintain it there with fast 5.
I don't mind the hunger sensation, its easy to manage , with food I am like an alcoholic, one taste and I cant stop eating until at times its hard to breathe , or I have terrible indigestion. But I have strong willpower and can and will stick to my times.
I probably would have been grossly obese due to my constant over eating  but I do eat well, and rarely eat fast food.I try and grow a lot of my food .
thanks for the support
Paul
