Re: [epilepsy] Epilepsy and Bipolar

 

Epilepsy has a link, sometimes more clearly then others, to many other
neurological disorders as well as emotional and psychological
diagnosis. I would imagine that some of those cases the link can go
either way.

Since seizures originate in damaged neurons seizures can be the result
of another disorder/diagnosis, such as a tumor. The opposite is also
true, especially when it comes to emotional or psychological diagnoses.
Most of us know there is a clear connection between epilepsy and
depression for example, but we also know that it is not the depression
that causes the seizures. For more complex mental diagnosis it is much
more difficult to ascertain which came first.
