[epilepsy] Re: Hi All

Hi Wendy...

You are absolutely right! She is a HUGE help!!! That is one of the things that made this whole epilepsy ideal so terrible. She has really bad hallucinations when she has her seizures and she gets scared of things and people, and she does things that she doesn't know she's doing and doesnt remember doing. So there was a time when I couldn't even leave them in the room together because I was so terrified that she would be scared of the baby and do something, or think the baby was something or somebody else and do something to her. So she was so sad that I wouldn't let her really be around the baby. My 3 year old is a different story. He can hold his own so I really wasnt worried about him. She is doing a whole lot better now that she is on her medicine. They started her on Keppra 500mg twice a day based on her weight. And it stopped her seizures literally overnight!!(When she first started having them about 3 yrs they would only occur about once every couple of months, and had recently increased to about 5 times a day every other day if not every day). But she recently gained weight she started having a couple and they had to increase it to 500mg in the am and 1000mg at night. She seems to be ok for now. She just had her MRI done this morning in hopes of trying to find a cause.

Jasiah is 8 months old, Joshua is 3 yrs old, and my soon to be 11 year old, Azaria, was recently diagnosed with epilespy this summer. Now that we have the diagnosis, I can honestly say that she has been having the seizures for about 3 years now. It just took them this long to finally figure out what it was. She just had an MRI this morning, which is another story in itself! LOL. I look forward to talking with everyone.
