After living in the LA area most of my life and growing up listening to the radio, I have learned a couple of facts about radio airplay.  Even though Lotusflow3r had a lot of great music on it, it didn't get much airplay for two reasons:

1.  this is an independent release by Prince and radio stations tend not to play independent artists.  Only artists that are released by the major labels.

2. Every time a song is played (for a limited time.  I am not sure but I think its like up to a year after the song is released) the artist is payed a "royalty" on the song.  Now when Prince was in his hay-day back in the '80s, Prince was one of the higest royaltys out there and thats when he was signed under warner brothers records.  But now Prince is an independent artists and and I am sure his royalty rates are much higher.

True, so true Jake. LF did get some airplay. Target did market it with a commercial. I saw the Target commercial in the movie theaters before the previews came on so it's not like people did not know about him putting a new album out. I'm more a Funk lover of P's music. Rock is secondary but Funk just grabs me by the collar and makes me wanna dance my ass off. LoL

I feel u Lan but I still think the music world is going 2 give a serious ear 2 his next LP, it really doesn't matter 2 him, he kno he has his Purple Army backing him, becoming a witness has humbled him a lot but a LP like MPLS should have been a chart buster under any circumstances even tho I'm more partial 2 Lotus Flow3r (it's the Rock & Roll in me), still haven't heard a better song on the radio or TV better than Colonized Mind or Dreamer.
