Re: [epilepsy] MEG

MEG stands for Magnetoencephalography. It is neural imaging that
measures the magnetic resonance of the brain. It creates a 3d image of
the brain that gives high resolution on activity without the
interference of surrounding tissue. In epilepsy it allows the Drs to
see exactly what area of the brain is damaged because it sees the
magnetic changes. It is exacting, meaning surgery can be done much more
precisely. This test doesn't by itself determine if surgery can/cannot
be done, it narrows the area to be removed. If surgery is done the
images are actually used to place inter cranial monitoring more
precisely, and these two together determine exactly what tissue to remove.
