[epilepsy] Orphan girl with epilepsy

While I understand why you sent this post to this list Lynn, this post should go to the adoption boards. I checked it out and it is a valid post, not a bid for sympathy. I am sad that anyone would post that it is spam without checking it out. My own daughter is from China and was adopted at 17 months old and was just diagnosed with epilepsy this summer. I know there are so thousands of children in the US that are in need of a home but don't forget that kids in the foster care system are required to get good care. I am a social worker who trains and licenses foster homes and works with the families to provide top notch care. Foster parents are great people who often adopt the children in their homes. This is work I am passionate about. I also have a passion for children in other countries who don't have much hope being cared for in their countries of origin and in orpanages. Orphanages do the best they can with the resources they have but there is never enough for all and there are never enough people to help all the kids. When a child has special needs, their worth decreases and they are not as likely to get the care they should. If I were not 55 with 2 kids with special needs, working in child welfare where the pay is hard to live on, I would check her out and try to adopt her in a second. I just can't afford any more kids.
