Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method
-------- ------------ --------------------------------
4 large plums -- pitted and chopped
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1/4 cup light soy sauce
1/4 cup orange juice
1/4 cup dry white wine
1 tablespoon sugar
3 garlic cloves -- minced
freshly ground black pepper -- to taste

Puree all the ingredients in a food processor or blender. Pour the mixture into a small, heavy saucepan and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 10 minutes. Keep the sauce warm if you're using it to baste.

Yield about 1 1/2 cups.

This fruity mixture can be used by itself as a sensational basting sauce for grilled [favorites] or add a few spoonfuls to enliven oriental dishes. It will keep for up to five days in the refrigerator.
