[epilepsy] Ingredients of Dilantin

Steve,

I spent a couple hours the other night going thru the websites
you put on the other nite. The one that disturbed me was that
Aspartame is in Dilantin -- since I take 25 a week. I eat very
few foods with aspartame in them. I have no problems with it
but some years ago I decided to not use Sweet and Low in my tea
and drink it without any sweetner. I think I thought it made me
gain weight.

I decided to call Pfizer today and find out for my self what is in
Dilantin. I called them today 1-800-438--1985, told them I have
had EP for 47 years and have been on Dilantin for over 20 years and
that I would like to know what is in Dilantin.

Scott talked to me. He told me that the 100 mg med has (active)
phenycoin. The other things are lau monohydrate, confecioners sugar ,
talc and magnesium. I then asked him if there is any aspartame in it.
He says "it doesn't say so but he will check into it and he will call
me back". He called me back about 1 1/2 hours later telling me that
there is absolutely NO aspartame in Dilantin.

Another person had called them and wondered if there is a difference
between the old and the new Dilantin. They got a completely different
answer. They were told the ingredients are secret and the amounts are
secret.

I'm glad I called . I feel a lot better

Millie
