Hey there Steve,
Let me clear things up before anyone else assumes the worst.
The first brain surgery I had done was in 1986.
Seizures reduced to every few months until 1989 when
I'd been seizure free for a whole year and got the OK to drive.
Took a Driving School in Nov '90 and got my License in Jan '91.
In 1999, seizures slowly returned and my license was taken away.
In October 2003 I had surgery done again. No seizures afterwards.
In November 2004, my doc gave me the okay to renew my license.
Since I hadn't driven for five years, they can't just re-issue my license.
Instead, I was issued a Learner's Permit to get some practice.
Then whenever I'm ready, I can do the road test again.
I went back to the Driving School, but the cost was too much.
The cheapest and shortest was 15 classes at $100 per class!!!
I didn't need theory. Just practice!
Years went by and I still hadn't taken the road test.
Instead, I had my Learner's Permit Renewed for another year.
Now I'm dating someone and she's letting me use her vehicle.
After a few months of driving her around, I'm now ready for the test.
They said it has to be in September as the summer is packed with
16 year old school-kids getting theirs. So Sept 1st is the day set!
Matthew
