Re: [fast5] Digest Number 1141

Hi Wallie,

I spent a lot of time in 12-step Overeater's Anonymous (i've had
Eating Disorder issues), and there are very good things I got out of
it, and there are also BAD things I got out of it. I think it's very
NOT-HELPFUL to have a Negative Mantra, i.e. saying over & over "I am a
binge-eater", "I am an addict," "I am a sugar-addict," et cetera. It
is ONE thing to recognize such things to come out of Denial; it is
another thing entirely to REPEAT such negative beliefs about oneself
over and over until they become one's IDENTITY. I highly recommend
cultivating POSITIVE beliefs about yourself, such as, "I am doing the
best I can," "I am doing the best I can to love myself and take care
of my body," "I am cultivating a healthy relationship with food," "I
enjoy food in a healthy life-affirming way," and other such
Affirmations.

Personally, in terms of dessert, it has been part of my HEALING (yes)
to consciously give myself permission to enjoy desserts. I also
subscribe to the modality that HEALTHY NUTRITIONAL FATS (virgin
pressed oils, for example) are incredibly beneficial to have as a
staple in one's diet.
