Hey everyone!
Thanks 4 all the helpful replies... but eye wound up choosing something of his that is new... 4 a few reasons...
1. The song is near and dear 2 my heart
2. Eye can sing it in my sleep
3. Can dance 2 it in my sleep 2
4. And eye wanted 2 do a song that was pretty much unknown ~ wanted a check on the reaction 2 what eye was doing up there on stage ~ not the reaction to a song well known n loved...
Nobody knew the song that I chose ~ and my teacher is a Prince fan ~ that's what he calls himself ~ but he showed that he only knows the old stuff ~ cause he didn't know the song that I picked...
The song I per4med is ~ MR. GOODNIGHT
After everyone was done with their 60 second "clip" of a song ~ we all clapped 4 each other n the instructor's comments were mostly things like ~ ohhh James just showed that he can sing! And mostly he said stuff like, "Very good! But you didn't keep pitch with yourself" (keeping pitch is hard with no music) and he mentioned tone...
And let me tell ya ~ everyone in that class has way more singing xperience than me... they all sang in a school or church choir or took voice lessons b4 or something... eye just sang 2 Prince songs... n sang in the pews at church... eye really have the most undeveloped voice... but I'm doing what eye can 2 stretch n strengthen my vocal chords... can sing soprano quite well now n eye never tried singing soprano ever b4... anyways...
The song I per4med is ~ MR. GOODNIGHT
(Chorus, 1st verse, n ended with the Chorus again)
Eye got up on stage ~ started snapping my fingers 2 get a groove going n 2 calm my nervousness...
Started singing n dancin "Call Mr. Goodnight, he'll make u feel alright..." Waggled my finger at the audience when eye sang "Better not tell u'r girlfriends" Pointed at the cutest dude in the class when eye sang, "but 'u' can call me Mr. Goodnight" dancing n snapping my fingers all the while... and...
People started clapping 2 the beat... someone got up n started dancing... We had a party goin on...
When eye finished ~ there was a thunder of applause ~ a couple of 'woooos" n someone even did that 2 fingers in u'r mouth kind of whistle...
The teacher commented, grinning from ear 2 ear, "Who cares about the tonal quality or the pitch ~ U rocked the House!"
Gosh ~ eye had so much fun!
Love,
me
