I've lost jobs for going to the hospital as a precautionary measure – not for epilepsy. There is also the considerable expense involved. If he doesn't pay it, then it's wasting someone else's money.
Unless there's some further reason he was hospitalized we weren't told about, this was plain wrong – and he should have said no.
