Re: [fast5] New member. First week. Gained a pound!

For some people, fast five works better (or only works at all) if they eat low carb during their window.  You can do this one of two ways:
Low Carbohydrate - where you count net carbs (carbs other than fiber) and don't exceed a certain amount.  50 grams is a good limit to aim for.
OR
You can do low glycemic load, which basically means no counting but you are not allowed to eat grains of any type, potatoes of any type, corn or rice or anything with sweetened with sugar, syrup or honey.   Pretty much anything else is okay to eat.

I know it seems unfair to Intermitten Fast and still have to "diet" but for some people that is the only way for them to lose weight.  Just think of low carb eating and fast-5 eating as lifestyle habits that you adhere to 90% of the time and not as a diet.

Good luck.

Subject: [fast5] New member. First week. Gained a pound!

Does anyone have encouragement for me? I am 1 year without my gallbladder and in spite of being extremely sick with shingles for several months this winter, have gained 20 lbs. been on fast5 a week and gained 1 lb..that is shocking to me because my past experience is you usually lose the most weight the first week on a diet. However, I went to fast5 because WW always worked for me before, but not since gall bladder removal. I am feeling much better though. Was feeling incredibly sick 24/7. Would appreciate any advice. Thanks!
