Mostly what people say is don't worry much about the first week, because it takes awhile for your body to adjust. But some people (me for one) also have had to consciously tweak their food choices too.
It's interesting you mention your gall bladder. I'm guessing you had to change your food choices some because without gall, some foods don't digest well? What do you eat these days? What is a typical meal? Snacks?
The food choices that tend to get in the way of me losing weight are the ones that raise uric acid levels. I discovered this accidentally when I got gout symptoms and changed my diet for THAT. Then started losing weight. At this point I'm down 40 lbs. I wrote it all down here:
The food choices aren't obvious. I got a lot of the information by reading about uric acid studies, or what people say helps with gout. But uric acid turns out to be key in how metabolism works, in studies anyway. So it's been an interesting experiment.
When eating a meal, it seems to work best, esp. at first, to have greens and/or proteins first. A salad with vinegar is ideal ... vinegar does interesting things to a person's blood sugar too. Then protein, vegies and starch. LAST, anything sweet. Avoiding anything sweet and avoiding beer is a good thing, esp. at first.

Does anyone have encouragement for me? I am 1 year without my gallbladder and in spite of being extremely sick with shingles for several months this winter, have gained 20 lbs. been on fast5 a week and gained 1 lb..that is shocking to me because my past experience is you usually lose the most weight the first week on a diet. However, I went to fast5 because WW always worked for me before, but not since gall bladder removal. I am feeling much better though. Was feeling incredibly sick 24/7. Would appreciate any advice. Thanks!
