Hi Nicki, Exhaustion / lack of sleep and heat are triggers for many. My
little girl too. Just her getting to warm in bed may sometimes do it or
wearing a sweater in school class room. Tell doc about the heat related
seizures and then ask Electric company for the "Medical baseline discount"
form. You need doc to sign. They will then give you a good discount on
electric since using the A/C is needed more frequently for medical reasons.
Also and I have studied this like crazy, is the dehydration / oxidative
stress factor. Something has to be off, in my opinion, for kids to start
seizing when there is no identifiable cause. Use google scholar and search
on: Oxidative Stress benign rolandic epilepsy .. Then search: seizures
oxidative stress ..Make sure he stays well hydrated with water, no sodas
or sports drinks and not with "Purified" bottled water as they are very
oxidative.
Does he have any other issues? Constipation, acid reflux, allergies etc ?

Subject: [epilepsy] benign rolandic epilepsy
Our son is 5 and had his first seizure June 6. We just had our 7th seizure
last night. Our Neuro says it's the best kind to have if you are going to
have epilepsy since children most often outgrow it. We are not on any
medication yet. We are trying to learn the triggers. Lack of sleep we know
but I also have noticed heat. He has had 3 seizures on days when high temps.
Is there anyone who is familiar with this type of epilepsy?
