the first thing that hit me was you said "you usually lose the most weight the first week on a diet". fast 5 is a lifestyle and not a diet although you can "diet" while on fast 5. since it has been proven that diets don't work, many people like myself have looked for a lifestyle that will help you lose weight but is something you can live with. I love fast 5 and while I think it's something I can live with I am not 100% fast 5. I eat outside my window (not often!) or adjust my window to fit in a special occasion. I don't stress about it though. I did gain when I first started because fast 5 is supposed to be "eat whatever you want" as long as you eat only during your window. well, I went nuts. too much fast food and sweets.
so I don't "diet" but I do try to limit my fast food and sweets and I lose weight. like heather said, don't worry about the first week. good luck!

I am 1 year without my gallbladder and in spite of being extremely sick with shingles for several months this winter, have gained 20 lbs. been on fast5 a week and gained 1 lb..that is shocking to me because my past experience is you usually lose the most weight the first week on a diet. However, I went to fast5 because WW always worked for me before, but not since gall bladder removal. I am feeling much better though. Was feeling incredibly sick 24/7. Would appreciate any advice. Thanks!
