An even safer thing to do, when in doubt of having possibly missed a
dose, is to skip the dose altogether. This will avoid potentially over
dosing and, unintentionally imitating Elvis Presley from his 'Shake,
Rattle n' Roll' video. Pharmacists' in general, and the drug
manufacturers will tell the patient to take the drug the moment they
remember. But that does not account for the possibility of having NOT
missed a dose, yet, the patient thinking that they did.
I asked a pharmacist about this once. They told me that my
AC(Anti-Convulsant)'s(2/2x200mg) life span once taken for a dose, would
last 36hrs.. Which meant in my case, I would always have 1200mgs in my
body at any given times. Because the life of the previous dose, ends
24hrs. after the present dose. Think of it like tiles on an angled
roof. Starting from the bottom of the roof, each tile is partially
covered by the higher tile to insure keeping the rain out.
