Hi Christina,
So many people with epilepsy talk about the summer heat and how it affects their summer activities outdoors. You mentioned sweating. I'm an outdoors person, hardly sweat, and am always playing tennis no matter what the temperature (I mean that)!!! Everybody constantly makes statements to me about how little I sweat, even when playing tennis indoors during the winter. For who knows what reason, my seizures never increased in the heat. If it was in the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90, even 100 I didn't my seizures didn't increase. I even remember a competitive team match our team played in when it was over 100 the summer before last. Our opponents where worn down by the temperature which led us to victory. Yea I felt it the next couple days but was just fine. If I noticed differences believe me I wouldn't have been outside doing what I do during the heat during my 34 years with epilepsy. No matter what the med. I never noticed changes in the quantity of seizures.
But like I've mentioned, I know my light sensitivity is what triggered allot of my seizures. Even looking out the side window of a car or train brought out seizures for me. Visions quickly passing me by I learned drew trouble. In time I learned to look only forward from a car, and on trains look forward out the side window rather than just to the side helped me. And, simply not looking out helped. But hey, I seized time when I didn't have a seizure in time (smile)! Happy new year everybody! Take care, keep a smile on your face!
