Starting my third week of FF. Fell off the wagon for two days last week, but got right back on. However, something a bit strange is happening. I'm developing a sweet tooth. This is strange for me because I've really never liked sweets and rarely ate desserts. Would much rather go for fries than cake, for example. But for the last week or so I head straight for sugary fruit, chocolate or some candy as soon as my eating window opens. It's only after scarfing down a banana with chocolate sauce or a handful of M&Ms that I can even think about eating protein or fat. I've been invited to dinner a few times since starting FF and ate dessert with great enjoyment.
Now, I'm not "bingeing" in the normal sense, but it sure feels like it. Not too worried, but this does represent a sea change for a die-hard low-carber. I've even taken to stocking up on apples, dates, bananas and Nesquik to break my fast. I'm also *ravenous* when my eating window opens and very often eat sugary stuff just as fast as I can work my jaws before the weakness and shakes subside.
This is probably my body's reaction to being relatively "carb-starved" for years. Even when I was a runner, I never carb loaded, but always depended on--and craved--protein and fat. Heavy weight lifting might have something to do with my new tastes, too. My weight's still dropping normally, so I'll just ride out this sweet tooth period. Hope it's just a phase.
Anyone else experiencing abnormal (for you) cravings?
