Yeah! I saw this heading about Zonisamide and...well, my neuro at MGH has in this past year switched me over to Zonisamide and we've gradually gotten off of the Dilantin.
Supposedly a newer drug with fewer side effects, but I approach this cautiously because Dilantin has always been the 'right med' for me; fiddle with that and I'd be bound for an episode...just give it time..Ka-Bang.
It's been about six months now...maybe slightly more...maybe slightly less...but so far so good.
Of course I'm a walking pharmacy too.
I can only report that when the drug levels become elevated...maybe I'd taken them a wee bit off schedual...a bit too close together, ya know, my eyes will go all askew, the double vision and dizziness. Sometimes effecting my stomach as well, because of the dizziness, but that's all really to say at this time.
Oh yeah, I sleep like a log; I can sleep right through a major tank battle.
Tell me who won in the morning (yawn) ;)
