all i can suggest is getting your daughter sterilised if none of the birth control options won't work. i guess you want some grandchildren, i think getting your daughter sterilised is to evasive. your daughter should at least have some children before getting her sterilised then.

Subject: [epilepsy] Re: Birth control and carbatrol for my 18 year old daughter? Help!

Hi Janice,
I just so happen to be an 18 year old girl myself and I was only recently
diagnosed with epilepsy so I was in a little bit different situation than your
daughter, I was already on a birth control pill when my neurologist decided to
put me on lamictal for my seizures. Both he and my gynecologist said they
didn't know how effective my birth control would remain being. I'm
taking Ortho Tri Cyclin Lo (which worked great for me the year and a half
i've been on it). but they said that it is a must that I use condoms, and I
haven't gotten pregnant through these two forms of birth control.
Now as a side note, I don't know where your daughter is at with
relationships and whatnot but I've been with my boyfriend for 2 years now
and I wasn't used to using condoms before I was diagnosed with epilepsy and
have found them uncomfortable and sometimes had issues with them breaking. So
talking with my gynecologist I am going to get an IUD here in a couple weeks.
There's tons of information about them on the web too. The only thing with
those is they suggest that you get them when you've got a long term partner
that is free of STD's. If not then its a must to use condoms even with this
because the risk of infection goes up with multiple partners and an infection
would not be good.
Hope some of this information is helpful. I totally understand the frustrations
that you two must be dealing with at the moment. I wouldn't be ok with two
periods a month either (yikes!)

controlled using the medication Carbatrol. Now that she is 18, we are looking
for a birth control pill. We have tried several things with a wonderful
gynecologist but the carbatrol lessens the effectiveness of all of them. She
ends up having a period in the middle of her cycle and again at the normal time.
Any ladies out there that have had similar issues that could help us? Thank
you.
