Re: [epilepsy] Regarding auras

I also have aura type seizures.  I'm fortunate that my wife is with me and tells me when it happens but there are times when I'm alone out walking or some other place and I feel it come on.  I've notices I can sometimes concentrate very hard and force myself to stay conscious.   I'm not completely sure I'm aware of this and may in fact become unconscious.     When I'm walking and this occurs, I try to determine exactly where I am, like what driveway I'm next to, and then when I come out of it, I re pace my steps to determine how long it occurred and if I remember other things.   I believe I have managed to work my way through these with a level of confidence.

Walking is the one exercise I can do.  I tried swimming at the local Y each day but I ended up in the hospital and almost drowned.  At the time I had been seizure free for some time and had never had a problem.   It did scare me and my wife and my doctor recommend stopping. Too bad as I love to swim.

I don't get a headache after these seizures like I do when I had a grand mal.   Those make me exhausted for hours.     Do others think they can concentrate and force their way through a seizure retaining some control?
