Millie, Lexapro doesn't make you more depressed. It just takes several weeks to start working, and since Kim had depression following her surgery, the doctor predicted that her depression would get worse before the pills started to work. I'm sure Kim could explain it in greater detail, but I'm thinking that's the short version.
