RE: [epilepsy] Starting to drink water

Tim, Water is the key to all life right? There is a huge amount of Acid in
sodas. Unfortunately there is almost as much acid in purified (reverse
osmosis) bottled water. So, Always try to buy true "Spring Water" if you
must buy bottled water. The purified waters are also very high in
"Oxidants"... the opposites of anti-oxidants.

Anti-oxidants are good at minimizing Free Radicals & Mitochondrial
dysfunction (MD) in our body and especially brain. Oxidants ADD to it.
Seizures cause MD and vice a versa. See another article from a doctor who
won an annual award from C.U.R.E. for treatiment of Epilepsy with a
catalytic antioxidant last year. Then click on the movies link in the web
site beolw and watch the water videos, they are short but will be very
helpful to you:

Mitochondrial dysfunction and oxidative stress: cause and consequence of

Abstract

Mitochondrial dysfunction has been implicated as a contributing factor in
diverse acute and chronic neurological disorders. However, its role in the
epilepsies has only recently emerged. Animal studies show that epileptic
seizures result in free radical production and oxidative damage to cellular
proteins, lipids, and DNA. Mitochondria contribute to the majority of
seizure-induced free radical production. Seizure-induced mitochondrial
superoxide production, consequent inactivation of susceptible iron-sulfur
enzymes, e.g., aconitase, and resultant iron-mediated toxicity may mediate
seizure-induced neuronal death. Epileptic seizures are a common feature of
mitochondrial dysfunction associated with mitochondrial encephalopathies.
Recent work suggests that chronic mitochondrial oxidative stress and
resultant dysfunction can render the brain more susceptible to epileptic
seizures. This review focuses on the emerging role of oxidative stress and
mitochondrial dysfunction both as a consequence and as a cause of epileptic
seizures. (End)

This whole string of posts about weight loss, teas etc caught my attention.
You will all find lots of answers below. Yes, it is my website but please
all people that have read this string and are puzzled by lack ability to
loose weight, unexplained cramps, calcium deficiency, arthritis,
constipation etc will find lots of answers in the E-book at the site. Many
AED's cause constipation and has any of you noticed that when constipated
seizures are wrose and more frequent. This water has been a big factor in
reducing my daughters meds and seizures. I can't help but share this
knoweldege with people. Pat D

Mrs Dash,I've had a huge long, long term habit of repeatably drinking two
liter bottles of cola or just cans that I take to work, try to buy caffeine
free if its possible. And continuously eat pretzels every day, which have too
much salt(sodium) on them.I've been hooked to this stuff for 25-40 years.I
wonder if eliminating this can be done.I'd just began to drink water.I hope
this can reduce seizures.Tim Baldwin

make sure you don't skip meals & even have healthy snacks about 2 or 3 times
a day. Try your best to stay away from soft drinks (if you drink them) &
reduce sodium intake!!!!! Sodium, besides MSG - a lot of sodium is so
unhealthy. Do your best when grocery shopping to find products (seasonings)
with low to no sodium. Of course process foods have a great amount of it
cause it helps with flavor. If you do buy meals like that to have every so
often, read up on them first or if at the store read the labels.

I was on Jenny Craig for about 2 months. The great thing about J.C. is that
they do watch your sodium in take and teach you what's the best products to
buy w/low sodium.

Weight watchers is a great diet - but there processed foods at the grocery
store are full of sodium. My sister asked her doctor about diets and that
was the only thing that he said was not healthy about W.W. was the sodium
in there meals.

Oh don't think I'm recommending diets for you to try. I'm just telling you
about what I've learned when on Jenny Craig, from doctors, etc.

Have you ever used the seasoning called Ms. Dash? Great seasoning and very
low in sodium. they have a web page that tells you all about it. Also has
some really good & healthy recipes.

Then there's the books "Eat This, Not That", "Drink This, Not That", etc.
Great books to have. Provides you with all kinds of information of the
correct things to eat not just at home but at restaurants, fast food, etc.
