I take cal/mag/d/k with my meal. I can't do dairy (it gives me migraines), and based on coprolites, human beings used to eat a lot of bones with their meat. I think calcium is one of those required things that we don't get enough of, and I'm probably not going to start eating small bones at this stage of the game (and with my luck I'd end up with a punctured intestine or something!). I do fry my fish sometimes so the bones get crispy though, and eat those.
I used to take Vit C with each meal too, but stopped that after I found out my ferritin levels are high. Vit C makes iron far more absorbable. Now I don't even eat fruit with meat, and take IP6 with meals. Calcium blocks iron too, esp. heme iron, which is why I think it's really important to have calcium when you eat meat.
B vitamins are another issue. I'm not even sure what usual sources there are for some of them: supposedly we make them. B12 is in meat, but some people don't absorb it correctly, and everyone I know who takes B12 says it really helps. In some societies they drink a lot of home-made yeasty beer which I think is where they got their B vitamins.

Do you take vitamin supplements?
My tendency is to always take supplements with food, that it's a bad idea to take vitamins on an empty stomach, that we are not meant to digest vitamins alone, they need food.
I also try to take supplements that really are food, such as acerola cherry powder, rather than refined ascorbic acid for vitamin C, for example.
One of my friends says that most people today with our sedentary lifestyles, that we need less calories, but we still need the same amount of vitamins; that's her rationale for supplements.
I used to take supplements twice a day with meals, but now I only have one meal, wondering if I should double the supplements at one meal or take less supplements per day.
I also wonder if a little acerola cherry powder in lemon water in the morning would be good for me, and not break the fast.
What do you guys do?
Thanks
